(Haiphong.gov.vn) – On the morning of December 21st, Hai Phong City held a conference to report the results of excavating the Cao Quy pile monument in the Bach Dang Giang relic site, Lien Khe commune, Thuy Nguyen district.
Attending the Conference were comrades: Le Van Thanh – Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Hai Phong Party Committee, Chairman of the City People’s Council; Nguyen Van Tung – Deputy Secretary of City Party Committee, Chairman of City People’s Committee; Nguyen Thi Nghia – Permanent Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee and Head of Hai Phong National Assembly Delegation; members of the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee, representatives of city departments.
Especially with the participation of professors, scientists, leading researchers in this field.
Based on the recent findings of the people of Mai Dong village, Lien Khe commune, Thuy Nguyen district, about two wooden trunks lying in the ground in the dike area of Da Bac river, related departments decided to excavate at Cao Quy field, Lien Khe commune, Thuy Nguyen district. The excavation results of 950m2, with 3 excavated holes discovered 27 piles. The piles are distributed in the East-West direction, with a diameter of 26-46cm, on piles with pincers used to tie zippers.
The piles were distributed not in line and based on the results of the age appraisals, we can see that, these wooden piles can be arranged into a battle in the thirteenth century. Initially, the Institute of Archeology stated that the pile site belonged to the 3rd Bach Dang battle (in 1288), in order to prevent the Nguyen Mong army to enter the Gia river area and the command area of Tran Quoc Tuan, force them must to follow the Da Bac River into the Bach Dang River. From there, they fell into the pre-arranged battlefield of Tran Quoc Tuan, engulfing the entire Mongolian army into the Bach Dang river, completely ending the invading dream of the Nguyen Mong Empire with the Dai Viet nation.
Speaking at the Conference, Chairman of the City People’s Committee Nguyen Van Tung said that, with the outstanding results of socio-economic development, Hai Phong city is very happy when the wooden pile has been discovered in the Cao Quy field, Lien Khe commune, Thuy Nguyen district. This is a particularly important event of the city, the stake yard related to three glorious victories on historical Bach Dang river of our father, namely: in 938, Ngo Quyen defeated the Nam Han army; in 981, Le Dai Hanh defeated the Tong army and in 1288 Tran Hung Dao defeated the Mongol invaders. Cao Quy pile area, Lien Khe commune with Bach Dang Giang relic site will be a red address to educate the revolutionary tradition for future generations. Today’s conference will be the scientific basis to help Hai Phong city carry out the next work to preserve and promote the value of this heritage.
At the Conference, the scientists spoken to relevant evidences to confirm the important values that needs to be preserved of the relic.
Conclusion of the Conference, Secretary of Hai Phong Party Committee Le Van Thanh affirmed the discovery and excavating Bach Dang pile ground in Lien Khe commune, Thuy Nguyen district is extremely meaningful, but preserving and promoting its value is even more important and meaningful. This is the responsibility of the Party Committee, Hai Phong city government before the history of the nation, and also the responsibility for future generations.
In order to fulfill that responsibility, the Secretary of the City Party Committee suggested the relevant levels and departments of city should coordinate with the Institute of Archeology to complete the procedures to announce, propagate on the information and communication media, send information to national and international scientific forums, to public the discovery and excavation results of Cao Quy pile ground, Lien Khe commune, Thuy Nguyen district; urgently implement procedures for recognizing historic city level; expediting procedures to request recognition of special national relic; organize a comprehensive survey on a wide range from Lien Khe commune along Da Bac river to Bach Dang Giang Relic Site, Minh Duc town, Thuy Nguyen district to plan and build technical infrastructure project. In order to exploit and promote the value of Cao Quy pile yard and the relics in the area, to ensure the roads, the system of green trees, parks, parking, sightseeing areas, learn the pile ground,….the infrastructure works that serve people and tourists must be synchronous, continuous and modern.
The Secretary of the Party Committee emphasized that this should be an important task not only of historical significance but also of great political and ideological education in both immediate and long term; Doing well this, we will contribute more endogenous strength to build and develop the city, this is not only socio-economic strength, but also a bright spot in promoting and preserving heroic historical and cultural values of our nation.
