Death anniversary of King Ngo Quyen (Lunar January 18th)

To commemorate the death anniversary and great contributions of King Ngo Quyen, annually, on lunar January 18th, the Death anniversary celebration of king Ngo Quyen is solemnly held at the Bach Dang Giang relic site. This is one of the important festivals which have great significance in celebration of the historic Bach Dang victory in 938. It also marks the anniversary Ngo Quyen became the King and set up the ancient capital in Co Loa, opened up the national freedom and sovereignty period, ended the dark era under the Northern rule which had lasted for over 1,000 years. The King death anniversary is celebrated nationwide. However, at the Bach Dang Giang relic site, many people from the northern, southern and central regions come to this place on this occasion to commemorate this event.
